Taxonomy of subsection Ranunculus Cassubici Tzvel. in Belarus.

In the course of our long term interests in Ranunculus section, we are investigating plants of subsection Ranunculus Cassubici Tzvel. in the flora of Belarus. Generally, Ranunculus L. fam-ily of plants is characterized by great variability of species due to their apomic-tic/semiapomictic nature, which makes their systematization difficult.
We found two groups from subsection Ranunculus Cassubici Tzvel. in the area of Belarus: R. aggr. cassubicus L (10 species) and R. aggr. fallax (Wimm et Grab.) Schur. (11 species).
The major attributes of an aggregate are: maturity level (degree of development) of the flowers, shape and degree of downiness of the lower leaves, the presence of scale-shaped leaves, the plant’s height. Common characteristics for each aggregate are discussed and a detailed descrip-tion of the species including their taxonomy within the groups is provided.
